The Lower Merion High School boys’ tennis team won the PIAA District One title on Wednesday with wins over Central League champ Conestoga and Suburban One National champ Council Rock North.
Lower Merion defeated Conestoga 3-1 in the semifinal and CR North 3-0 in the final. Dual winners Simon Vernier and Matt Chen led the singles trio with Thibault Vernier clinching the championship match with a 6-1, 6-1 win at third singles. The freshman doubles team of Jared Robinson and Omosessan Adebamgbe clinched the Conestoga match with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win at second doubles.
