Girls Soccer: The All-Delco Teams

Congratulations to the following Central League soccer players named to the All Delco teams.

First Team

Selah Koleth, Radnor: The senior makes her second appearance on the All-Delco team, her ability to control tempo in the middle of the field unparalleled among her peers. She possesses a rare combination of service from deep in midfield and a shooting range that applies pressure on the defense from 30 yards and in. She led the Raptors with 10 goals and four assists, with a hand in nearly half of the team’s 33 goals in an 11-win season that ended in the District 1 Class 3A semifinals. Koleth scored in a 1-1 draw with Class 4A power Lower Merion, had a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Coatesville and the only marker in a 1-1 draw with Garnet Valley in the battle of the top two Delco Central League squads. She also scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Bishop Shanahan. Koleth joined Magnotta on the All-State team, the only two from Delco. She’ll play next season at George Washington.

Ella Bryan, Garnet Valley: The junior helped the Jaguars win 16 games and receive a top-eight seed in the District 1 Class 6A playoffs. The midfielder provided structure in both directions, both as a primary chance creator with her technical skill on the ball and in helping a defense that kept 15 clean sheets. Bryan accounted for seven goals and five assists, landing on the first team All-Central. She scored twice in a 3-2 win over Harriton and had the winner over District 1 Class 3A champ Villa Maria. Bryan had a goal and an assist in wins over Kennett and Ridley.

Annie Dignazio, Strath Haven: The junior forward is a two-time All-Delco, one of the players in the Central League that forced most opponents to alter their game plans to cope with her combativeness and speed up top. The three-sport athlete scored 10 goals to go with six assists, leading Strath Haven to the District 1 Class 3A final and the PIAA tournament. Dignazio scored twice in a win over Harriton and the only goal in a victory over Radnor. She added a hat trick against Interboro. Dignazio is committed to Brown to play lacrosse.

Maddie Smith, Garnet Valley: The junior forward helped the Jaguars cash in all their dominance of teams with 17 goals, one of the highest totals in the Central League. For a team that allowed just nine goals all season and kept clean sheets in 15 of 20 outings, those contributions loom even larger. Smith scored the game-winning goals in 1-0 decisions over Springfield, Strath Haven and Lower Merion. She also scored the decider in the final five minutes to beat Harriton and two goals in a win over Methacton. Smith committed this summer to South Carolina Upstate.
