Taylor Winkelman’s fly ball was deep enough to score Kaylee Lennon in the 11th inning Tuesday, and that would finally be good enough for Springfield’s softball team to survive an oh-so tough challenge posted by Cardinal O’Hara.
What would go down as Winkelman’s fifth RBI of the game boosted Springfield to a 10-9 victory over its nearby rival, which gives the Cougars a perfect 19-0 record heading into the postseason. Winkelman also had a double and triple among her four hits in support of winning relief pitcher Tori DePietro, who pitched the last seven innings.
