All Delco Cross Country Teams

The following runners from the Central League were named to the All Delco Cross Country teams.

 

FIRST TEAM

James Abrahams, Haverford High: The senior two-time selection parlayed a stellar Central League season into fourth place at the Delaware County Championships, stopping the clock in 16 minutes, 18 seconds. Abrahams earned the Central League crown, besting Lower Merion’s Matthew D’Aquila and Penncrest’s Avery Lederer down the stretch. He booked his trip to states by taking 10th at the District 1 Class 3A race in 15:44, edging Lederer by a place. At states, Abrahams finished 148th.

Avery Lederer, Penncrest: A two-time All-Delco, Lederer finished second to Ryan James at Delcos, edging Patrick James by one second to earn silver in 16:08. The junior took third place at Centrals in 16:06, and he ran his way into the state meet by claiming 11th place at the District 1 Class 3A championships with a time of 15:47. Penncrest took home 16th in the team category at districts. Lederer missed out on a states medal by 13 seconds, garnering 31st in 16:43.

Syed Shah, Upper Darby: The senior rounded out the top six at Delcos, clocking in at 16:48 and garnered fifth place at the Central League meet. Shah took 19th place at the District 1 meet in 15:56 to get to states, where he covered the course in 17:22, good for 114th. Shah also took 15th in the Paul Short White Race in 16:31 early in the season.

Isabel Cardi, Strath Haven: Capping her career with a second All-Delco nod, Cardi took 22nd at the Paul Short Run Brown Race with a time of 18:39 early in the season. She finished sixth at Delcos in 19:31. Cardi ran quickest among the Delco contingent at Centrals, trailing Conestoga’s Dominique Shultz and Harriton’s Tasha Greene to take the bronze medal. Cardi was the top Delco runner at the District 1 Class 3A championships in 26th place with a time of 18:54, and she captured 56th at the PIAA meet in 19:57 as the Panthers earned 12th place in the 3A team standings.

Jamie Green, Ridley: A junior, Green took third place at Delcos, her time of 19:24 ahead of Seifried by a hair at the line. The two-time All-Delco pick also finished 10th at the Paul Short Run White Race, an early statement of intent on the season. Green ran fourth at Centrals, the last runner to break the 20-minute mark on the day. Green crossed the line 47th at the District 1 3A championships in 19:22.
