Philip Nawn is already roaring into midseason form.

The Penncrest All-Delco wasn’t just content with holding the school record in the 200 freestyle. Instead, he took down a 14-year-old pool record with his time of 1:48.93, edging the previous best of 1:50.44, to help the Lions beat Springfield, 97-83, in a Central League meet Thursday.

Nawn also conquered the field in the 500 freestyle and was also a factor in Penncrest’s winning 200 medley relay team. Joining him on that team, among others, was Dan Rosenberger, who also won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.

Springfield’s Brian Layden crushed the field in the diving competition with his score of 208.14, which was nearly 21 points better than his nearest competitor.
