Strath Haven’s relay teams were back to their old ways Saturday in the first Delaware Valley Girls Track Coaches Association meet at Lehigh University.

The Panthers got first place in two of three relay events. In the 4 x 800, Maddie Forbes, Bri Irons, Allie Wilson and Kristen Miller finished in 9:35.5. Wilson and Miller also were anchoring members of the Panthers’ 4 x 400 team, along with runners Kat Mazur and Jamie Kenney, that bested the field with a time of 4:06.20.

Haverford’s 4 x 800 relay, consisting of Laura Slavich, Marykate Linder, Marissa Donohue and Courtney Naser, grabbed third place in 9:58.9. Upper Darby put forth a solid, fourth-place finish in the 4 x 400. That foursome was comprised of Ashli Cook, Tina Lee, Shannon Birch and Khala Williams.

In individual competition, two Upper Darby athletes went home with gold medals. Christina Holmes clocked in at 42.20 seconds to win the 300-meter dash, while Claudine Andre was the top performer in the high jump event with a leap of five feet, five inches. Andre placed in the 60 hurdles.

Garnet Valley’s Gabby Irving and Penncrest’s Alicia Coller finished in third and fifth place, respectively, in the 60-meter dash. Boyle took fourth in the 400, and Cook and Yasmira Cooper of Penn Wood were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 600.

In the 800, Liz McGroarty (Garnet Valley) was third with a time of 2:23.74. Penn Wood’s Lawren Wright had a fine showing in the mile race, finishing third, while Penncrest’s Christine Bewley got sixth place.

In the shot put, Strath Haven’s Natalie Kent earned a fifth-place medal with a throw of 35 feet, 1 1/2 inches.
