WESTTOWN — No. 8 vs. No. 9 always has the potential to be a nail-biting game, and Thursday’s second round District One girls lacrosse playoff game between eight-seeded Bishop Shanahan and ninth-seeded Springfield held true to form. It was a roller-coaster battle at Al Kelly Field that ended in a 12-10 Springfield victory.
The Cougars (16-4) move on to play the top seed, Conestoga, in the quarterfinals 12:30 p.m. Saturday at a site to be determined. It’s the 18th straight time Springfield has made the district quarterfinals.
“Today is a big win, especially because it is on the road against the seed in front of us,’ Springfield senior Emily Santana said. “This was huge for our confidence and now we are excited to play on Saturday.’
